Fight Club!

Narrator: You wake up at Seatac, SFO, LAX. You wake up at O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, BWI. Pacific, mountain, central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time. You wake up at Air Harbor International. If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

Narrator: This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time.

Tyler Durden: Fuck off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.

Tyler Durden: Fuck damnation, man! Fuck redemption! We are God's unwanted children? So be it!

Tyler Durden: Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

Wake Up and Dream

Hey guys, so Jimi, Manu, Mairo, Hanna Eunbee and I, did an installation for this yoga center called Jivamukti Yoga School in Union Square. They had an event this past weekend called Evolver: Wake Up and Dream and needed a few people to decorate a space for them; their concept was dreams and about living them, they had lectures, DJs, performers and interactive art. Our installation turned out pretty awesome (if I may say) and everyone was really into it. We were all proud of the end result. All the hard work had paid off especially when we saw people interacting with our cardboard light boxes and our color stars made out of recycled water bottles with glows sticks inside.

retirement housing comes to the city

hi people. we're now doing a project on urban housing targeting to clients within the age group that's considered the baby-boommers. when it comes to retirement housing. what comes to most people's mind is probably healthcare and the stereotypical bingo setting. but why can't it be a fun and exciting place to live? I've come across a new york times article that talks about the rising demand on urban retirement housing. as of now, there are only 30 urban retirement housing facilities out of 2,240 in the states. so how do we design and provide a suitable space for our clients so they can live comfortably and enjoy the vibrant lifestyle in the city?

what is art to you???

january 14th, we went to MOMA for our 1st studio class to see Martin Puryear and to basically to start a new year and new semester with lots of inspiration and new ideas. well, i think we all had some different ideas about what we saw at the museum. I think I saw a lot of cool stuff and didn't want to leave when the museum was closing. it's such a shame that I'm living here in new york and rarely find myself really taking advantage of it.

we all went back to the studio to have an discussion about what we thought about the works. so here's konstantin's sketch we thought it'd generate a good discussion. (konstantin's not registered yet so i'm posting this for him.)

"my overall impression on this museum visit physically made me sick. my question is: what is this world coming to? our new generation is exposed to degenerate exhibitions loaded with psychedelic mind altering understanding of art and beauty: though i appreciate martin puryear's craft (carpentry) it doesn't change my mind about the art thats being displayed: the only thing i enjoy about moma is the architecture of the building: and the sylliuetes of people that fill the space. MY QUESTION IS: WHAT WILL ART BE LIKE IN 20 YEARS FROM TODAY???

Advise Posters

came across a post about graduates from University College Falmouth making posters to give advice to younger students. each poster contains a short message such as: "collaborate" "let go of what you think you know" "be yourself" and ..... it's pretty cool what they have to say and the posters are interesting too.

"kenny, that's kenny" - Michel Gondry

January 24, 2008 — March 01, 2008
18 Wooster Street, New York

guys, sorry for the lack of updates. hope everyone's had a good time off. yesterday manu invited me to join her and greg at this panel with Michel Gondry, the maker of "eternal sunhine of the spotless mind" and "the science of sleep," in soho. it was an event arranged by indieWIRE. This French director was quite an amazing and funny individual. He was also sharing about how he came about to become who he is today. As a kid, Michel Gondry said he was always quite but always interested in observing creating little things. He also said he was lucky to have his parents' support for his creative works.

on January 24th, his new film "Be kind Rewind" is going to have an exhibit at Deitch.

for the task or for the people

Bruce M. Tharp from core77 did an interview, "positively every worthy issue in design," with Don Norman where they touched upon the topic of designing for task or people. It takes on a different look in design, I think definitely for many interior designers. does your product really functions well while it has a sleek look of design.

Don Norman is a professor emeritus of cognitive science at University of California, San Diego and a Professor of Computer Science at Northwestern University, where he also co-directs the dual degree MBA + Engineering degree program between the Kellogg school and Northwestern Engineering.

mission etternity: become inmortal. ( at least your thinking)

look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YHeusiM6IA

The key to this long-term project is TIME. etoy decided to invest decades into MISSION ETERNITY. After the internet hype of the 1990’s it is now time to radically slow down and to investigate the sustainable impact of digital media in full depth. etoy.AGENTS carefully approach the memory issue from an emotional, a technical and an artistic perspective. Only the complex combination of the three view points can lead to relevant results. On the trip etoy will face spiritual, political, ethical, legal, economical, aesthetical and massive technical challenges again.

Independent from pragmatic needs, short term thinking, and commercial pressure the interdisciplinary group of experts who form etoy take all the time and resources they need to cross the deadline.

The digital revolution entered another level: the net completely penetrated human life. etoy, pioneer and survivor of level one – is prepared for level two: memory space explodes while our art form faces massive problems to cope with its history, conservation, loss and mediation.

MISSION ETERNITY constructs a bridge between life and beyond: a trip into the past, presence and far future of human culture. etoy.CORPORATION is art and invests all resources in the production of more art – the final link in the value chain.

Strong social and emotional links between the involved people (family ties, friendship, personal or public interest), digital storage technology, and the artistic quality maximize long term existence of M∞ DATA in the public domain as well as in art collections, libraries and museums.
